Privacy Policy
Scroll Streak ("the app") counts how many Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts you watch each day. This policy explains what the app accesses, why, and what happens to that information.
Summary
- Scroll Streak does not collect, store on servers, sell or share any personal data.
- Everything the app records (your daily reel counts and settings) stays on your device.
- The app has no account, no sign-in, no ads, no analytics and no internet access.
Accessibility Service
Scroll Streak uses Android's Accessibility Service API. It is not an accessibility tool; it uses this API only to provide its core feature: counting reels.
What it accesses. Only while the Instagram or YouTube app is open, the service receives:
- scrolling events, so it can tell when you swipe to a new reel;
- the text and layout of what is on screen, so it can recognise the Reels and Shorts screens, tell one Short from the next (for example by its channel name), and recognise ads marked "Sponsored" or "Ad" (ads are not counted).
It also draws on top of Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts: a small live counter, and, if you've set a limit and left the pause screen on, a full-screen pause when you reach it, with options to close the app or keep watching after a short wait.
What it does not do. The service does not read your messages, does not record what you type, does not take screenshots, and does not store or transmit any on-screen content. On-screen text is checked in memory and never saved. To avoid counting the same YouTube Short twice, the app keeps a list of the Shorts seen today (each one's channel name and comment count) in memory only; it is never written to storage and is cleared each day and whenever the app restarts.
Your choice. The app shows an explanation and asks for your agreement before you turn the service on. You can turn it off at any time in your phone's Settings → Accessibility.
Information stored on your device
| Data | Why | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Number of reels and Shorts watched per day (last ~13 months), and per hour for today | To show your counts, history and hourly limit | On your device only |
| Time spent on the Reels and Shorts screens per day | To show time on Reels and in your weekly recap | On your device only |
| Your daily and hourly limits, and the dates you changed them | To show progress, judge each streak day fairly, and pause or alert at a limit | On your device only |
| Achievements you've earned and when | To show your awards | On your device only |
| Settings (live counter, pause screen, alerts, setup progress) | To remember your preferences | On your device only |
This data is never sent off your device. It is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its storage. If you use Android's device backup, Android may include this data in your own backup; Everscans has no access to it.
Permissions
- Accessibility Service: to count reels, as described above.
- Notifications: to tell you if reel counting has been switched off, when you're close to or at a limit, when you earn an achievement, and to send your weekly recap. All are created on the phone; none come from a server.
- Run at startup: to keep the "is counting still on?" check scheduled after your phone restarts.

Scroll Streak is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
Third parties
Scroll Streak is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Instagram, Meta, YouTube or Google. It shares no data with them or with anyone else.
